About Us

Marok Arab Stud is situated on the beautiful farm Piekfyn, on the northern slope of the Magaliesberg. The farm is on the Kommandonek road, about 2 kilometer north-west of the Hartbeespoort dam wall, in the district of Brits, and ± 35 kilometer west of Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa.  Both the house and stables are set against the mountain, the result being a magnificent view over the Brits valley.

Marok Arab Stud was founded more than 30 years ago when Kobus Lombard and his late wife Maria, together with their sons Arno, Johan, Kobus and Pierre decided to breed Arab horses as a hobby. Today the stud has grown to be one of the bigger studs in the country with horses doing well in the show ring, in the breeding as well as the riding classes and endurance.

The name Marok comes from the first three letters of “Maria” and the first two letters of “Kobus”. Marok Arab Stud is the love of the whole family. Each horse bred by Marok is named after a star. Astronomy was a subject studied by Kobus at university while studying Land Surveying and became a second love, hence all the horses named after stars, something very special. Marok Arab Stud bred a couple of horses that was crowned Supreme Champions on different shows. The stud use Marok Sadr, Arlieb Gal Shaklakan and Marok Acubens as their main breeding stallions but also use outside stallions from time to time.
